Can a balloting be done in an emergency meeting?

According to the Constitution of the Grand Lodge of Antient, Free & Accepted Masons of India, balloting for candidates generally must take place at a regular meeting. However, in cases of urgency, provisions exist for balloting to be conducted at an emergency meeting, provided certain conditions are met. Specifically, Rule 136 states that if the procedure under Rule 135 imposes serious hardship on a prospective candidate, two members can write to the Master requesting urgent initiation.

If granted, the necessary particulars must be submitted at least fourteen days prior to the emergency meeting, and the causes of urgency must be logged in the Lodge minutes as well.

This indicates that while regular procedure prefers a regular meeting for balloting, emergency meetings can accommodate such actions under specific circumstances outlined in the rules.
