Can I join a UGLE lodge?
You can join a UGLE lodge if you are a member of a recognized Masonic organization. According to the Constitution of the Grand Lodge of India, a Brother desiring to become a joining or rejoining member of a lodge must be proposed and seconded at a regular meeting, and then be balloted for at the next regular meeting. If elected, the Brother shall be deemed to have become a member immediately (Rule 138(i)).
Furthermore, before the ballot is taken, the candidate must produce his Grand Lodge Certificate and a certificate of good standing from each of the daughter Lodges he is a member of, to show that all dues have been paid (Rule 138(i) and Rule 1). If you were initiated in a Lodge not under the Grand Lodge, the Secretary must apply to ascertain that the Grand Lodge under which you were initiated is recognized by the Grand Lodge (Rule 138(ii)). Therefore, if your UGLE lodge is recognized and all qualifications are met, you can join.
