What is the Grand Conclave in India?
The Grand Conclave in India is a sovereign body that oversees the Order of the Secret Monitor, also known as the Brotherhood of David and Jonathan, within India. It was constituted on December 14, 2013, with M.Wy.Bro. Madhavan Chellappa as the Most Worthy Grand Supreme Ruler. This establishment was motivated by the increasing costs of international affiliation and the desire for self-administration among members in India.
The Order has been present in India for over 124 years and has grown significantly, boasting a membership of over 25,000, which is nearly 30% of the total membership of the Order in the British Isles and its Districts and Conclaves overseas.
The Grand Conclave oversees several District Grand Conclaves, including Southern, Western, Northern, and Eastern India, with the Southern India District being the largest.
The leadership includes the Grand Supreme Ruler and the Grand Recorder, who manage the administration and governance of the Order within India. The ceremonials of the Order are based on the Old Testament story of the friendship between David and Jonathan, emphasizing true and faithful friendship.
