What is Jachin in Freemasonry?

Jachin is one of the two pillars that stood at the entrance of King Solomon's Temple, the other being Boaz. In Masonic tradition, Jachin is associated with the concept of establishment, as its name in Hebrew (יָכִין) translates to 'He shall establish.' It is positioned on the right side and symbolizes strength and stability. Together with Boaz, which signifies strength, they convey the idea that 'In strength shall this house be established.' These pillars are significant in Masonic symbolism, representing various dualities and principles within the Craft.

As noted by Albert Pike in *Morals and Dogma*, Jachin represents the Active Principle, while Boaz represents the Passive Principle, illustrating the balance of forces in creation and existence.
