What is the significance of the left side pillar of King Solomon's Temple?
The left side pillar of King Solomon's Temple is known as Boaz, which signifies strength. In the context of Freemasonry, these pillars are not merely architectural features but carry deep symbolic meanings. The pillars, Jachin (right side) and Boaz (left side), are said to represent the dual aspects of strength and establishment, respectively. Together, they convey the message that 'In strength shall this house be established.' Interestingly, while Jachin is traditionally placed on the right and in the south, Boaz is on the left and in the north, which is contrary to their actual positions on the Temple porch.
