Should all Freemasons actively deliver portions as part of the ritual?
In Freemasonry, while the delivery of portions of the ritual is indeed a significant aspect of the membership experience, it is not mandatory for all members to actively participate in delivering the ritual. Members are encouraged to engage with the Craft in various ways that align with their interests and abilities. Some may focus on memorizing and performing the rituals, while others might be more involved in administrative tasks or charitable activities. The primary goal of Freemasonry is moral education and personal development, allowing members to explore the history, symbolism, and principles of the Craft at their own pace.
As noted in the literature, "the business of the E.A. is to take himself in hand morally and conquer the physical body, so that its impulses will not stand in the way of his rapid progress or evolution". This indicates that while participation in rituals is encouraged, it is ultimately a personal journey of growth and understanding.
