What is the 32 degree in Scottish rite?
The 32nd Degree in the Scottish Rite is known as the Master of the Royal Secret. This degree represents a significant milestone in a Mason's journey, emphasizing personal growth and ethical teachings. It is a culmination of the Scottish Rite journey where a Mason learns that his most important duty is to himself. The degree is presented through dramatic performances that include historical events, such as the completion of King Solomon’s Temple and the Crusades.
Upon achieving the 32nd Degree, a Mason vows to serve as a “True Soldier” who seeks truth and knowledge, demands freedom of voice, vote, and opinion for all people, combats spiritual tyranny with reason and truth, and performs his duties zealously to God, his country, his family, his brethren, and himself.
A 32° Mason is entitled to participate in monthly meetings, perform degree work, and engage in other activities within the Valley. They are also allowed to wear a black hat with gold ribbons and the Double-Headed Eagle symbol, often referred to as 'black hats'.
