What is the process for initiating a new member in a Lodge?
The process for initiating a new member in a Lodge begins with the following steps outlined in the Constitution:
- The candidate must be proposed and seconded at a regular meeting. This proposal must be submitted to the Secretary using an approved printed form, as per Rule 135.
- The candidate must be balloted for at the next regular meeting. If the ballot is not taken, the proposal lapses.
- The candidate must produce a Grand Lodge Certificate and a certificate of good standing from any Daughter Lodges of which he is a member.
- If elected, the candidate must subscribe to a declaration affirming his status and intentions, as per Rule 137, before the initiation can take place.
- Every Brother upon initiation will receive a copy of the Book of Constitutions, and this acceptance is deemed as a declaration of submission to its contents.
All procedures must be followed in accordance with the Constitution and relevant rules, including notice periods for meetings and fees payable for initiation.
