What is the process to become a joining member in a Masonic Lodge?
A Brother wishing to join a daughter Lodge must follow these steps:
- The candidate must be proposed and seconded at a regular meeting of the Lodge.
- The candidate must be balloted for at the next regular meeting; if this does not occur, the proposal becomes void.
- Before the ballot, the candidate must present his Grand Lodge Certificate and certificates of good standing from any daughter Lodges he is a member of or has been a member of, confirming that all dues are paid.
- If accepted, the candidate will then become a member of the daughter Lodge immediately.
Furthermore, they must complete a declaration confirming their adherence to the Book of Constitutions of the Grand Lodge of India, which is to be recorded in the Lodge Minutes. A copy of the constitution must also be provided to the joining Brother.
For more details, you can refer to Rule 138 of the Constitution.
