Who was Adoniram
Adoniram appears in Biblical history as the principal collector of tribute under David, Solomon, and Rehoboam, who was placed by Solomon as superintendent over the thirty thousand workmen sent in courses to labor on Mount Lebanon. In orthodox Craft Masonry, he is traditionally recognized in connection with this role on Lebanon, keeping him distinct from Hiram Abif, the Master Builder.

Adoniram
Adoniram appears in Masonic tradition primarily as the superintendent placed over the levy of thirty thousand workmen on Mount Lebanon during the building of King Solomon's Temple. Scriptural accounts identify him as the son of Abda, who held office over the tribute during the reigns of David, Solomon, and Rehoboam. Within traditional Craft legends, he is described as "the first of the Fellow Crafts" and, in one story, the brother-in-law of Hiram Abif.
