How are members elected to the Grand Board of General Purposes?
Members of the Board of General Purposes are appointed rather than elected, as the United Grand Lodge of England states. Under Rule 223 of the Book of Constitutions, the Board consists of the President, Deputy President, Grand Treasurer, President of the Committee of General Purposes of Grand Chapter, and up to eight additional appointed members. These additional appointments must include at least two Provincial Grand Masters and one Past Master of a Lodge in a Metropolitan Area who is eligible to attend Grand Lodge.
