Why is the lodge of perfect unanimity so perfect
The name of the Lodge of Perfect Unanimity commemorates the joining together of the rival "Ancients" and "Moderns" Masonic factions in Madras, as an article published by the Regional Grand Lodge of Southern India explains. Long before the 1813 union between the two opposing groups in England, the local Atholl Lodge No. 152 ("Ancients") surrendered its powers in 1785 to accept a united provincial body.
